Councillor for Barningham Ward
Carol was elected to Bury St Edmunds Borough Council in 2015 and subsequently elected to the West Suffolk District Council when Forest Heath and Bury St Edmunds Councils amalgamated. She is currently the Portfolio Holder for Governance and sits on a number of Committees including Development Control and Licensing, She is a partner Governor of the West Suffolk Hospital Trust and sits on the Suffolk County Council Flood Risk Management Scrutiny Committee.
Born in Cheshire and educated in Surrey she moved to Suffolk after her marriage where she and her husband ran a village Post Office and shop for a number of years. They have now lived in Suffolk for over 40 years in a number of villages and moved to Hopton in about 2008.
She worked for 18 years as Regional Administrator for the Meat and Livestock Commission and thus was heavily involved with the livestock farming community. After that she managed a Barristers Chambers, retiring in 2014 after 18 years. She enjoys village life, the theatre, history, music and being outdoors having a number of dogs and supporting her daughter’s equestrian activities.
