Following the closure of the Mildenhall branch of Nationwide Building Society at the end of August, IPSWICH Building Society has now confirmed plans to launch a new agency in Mildenhall from the beginning of November.
The society, which says the move follows “very positive responses” from the local community, has signed an agreement with estate agents Balmforth which will host the agency in its offices in the High Street.
Portfolio Holder for Economic development at Forest Heath District Council, David Bowman, has welcomed the news as the Ipswich Building Society continues with preparations to open on 1 November.
Commenting, County Council Candidate for Mildenhall and leader of the District Council, James Waters said: “This is excellent news for Mildenhall and goes to show what positive outcomes can be achieved when residents, councillors and businesses work together.”
On 17 and 24 October, an Ipswich Building Society branch manager will be available by appointment for those who would like to open an account before the official opening in November.
The Society is also planning celebrations to mark the opening on Saturday 3 November.
