The Barrow and District Branch of the West Suffolk Conservative Association encompasses many of our rural communities that border the town of Bury St Edmunds. It is our fastest growing branch. Its membership reflects the proposed County Council division of Barrow and Thingoe which was created in 2024 as part of the Electoral Commission's redrawing of political boundaries. The newly drawn boundary does not take legal effect until after the County Council Elections which were scheduled for 1st May 2025. Due to the Government selecting Suffolk for the Priority Devolution Programme, we do not know when or if, the County Council elections will take place.
The following villages are currently included in the Barrow and District Branch:
Barrow - Hawsted - Denham - Great and Little Saxham - Brockley - Chedburgh - Westley - Hawkedon - Stansfield - Chevington - Wickhambrook - Dalham - Hargrave - Flempton - Lidgate - Hengrave - Ousden - Icklingham - Horringer - Lackford - Iskworth - Risby - Nowton - Rede - Depden - Great and Little Whelnetham -
Once the election has taken place, assuming no changes to the proposed Division, the following villages will then become part of West Suffolk and the Barrow and District Branch :
Fornham All Saints - Fornham St Martin - Fornham St Genevieve - Great Barton (North and Severalls).
The Branch Chairman is Simon de Laat who is also a member of the Officer Group of the Association.
